On September 29th Congress passed HR 4954 which is expected to be signed by President Bush by the end of October. This is expected to dramatically effect the $70-90 billion dollar global Bingo industry. As of writing this bingo sites still are accepting US deposits.

I am somewhat split on the anti-gambling stuff by the government. A part of me says gambling, like alcohol, should be a privilege. There is no real harm so long as you don’t abuse the privilege and develop an unhealthy gambling/drinking addiction.

Another part of me wants to side with the government and draw a hard line. In the long run I think we would be better off restricting the use of potentially harmful recreational activities.

That being said, it makes me wonder why Colorado is trying to legalize marijuana through Amendment 44 on the upcoming ballot. To me marijuana definitely seems like a greater threat to our well being than bingo.
