If you have ever played Magic the Gathering you will find this game very straight forward. Judging by the fact that you are reading this I assume you have.

Decks in Monster Master are decent. There are quite a few interesting monsters and spells. Some monsters get multiple attacks, steal a card on a successful attack or have vampiric abilities. (goes great with laser wielding aliens) One bonus of not playing with actual cards is all the creatures can have health and dynamic abilities. If you had to keep track of all that stuff in a real card game not a lot of people would play.

You don’t have to worry about mana, that dumbs down the game and makes it more widely consumable I guess. Instead you summon 1 monster per turn. The stronger the monster the longer it takes to summon.
