Tarnation Review - Strategy Flash Game

Play Here: Tarnation

Tarnation, the latest release by Brad Merritt of Bullet Pattern, was released on December 20th 2007. Within ten days it had already won the weekly contest at Kongregate.com and the game has instantly gained a following. Even though it has been released for just a short time it has been featured on numerous different flash game sites.

The aim of the game, quite simply, is to kill all the “Tars”. These are effectively bugs made of tar, and worst of all they are attacking your garden’s water supply. You are given a set number of flowers (which keeps increasing) that you can make red, blue, and yellow (which means they can attack the Tars and kill them).

The game is very simple, but the strategy behind it can get pretty complex, with decisions to be made on how many flowers you attack the tars with and the direction at which you fire them. Each flower is only able to inflict a certain amount of damage before it dies, so it’s important to figure out just how much flower power you’ve got left.

The motion graphics are a joy to behold, they are extremely smooth for a flash game and the developer has clearly optimized the game to run extremely well on almost any internet connection. It’s a well thought out game with numerous different possibilities, and has the potential to become an instant favourite among online gaming fans.
