Crysis - not the best game of 07
So after playing more with Crysis in multiplayer, I really have to say that it’s not the best game of 07. First of all, in order to actually make it playable in MP, you really need all the frames per second you can get. This means trimming down the settings — assuming you haven’t blown $1k on a gaming pc just for this game.
After around 30 hours in the two offered multiplayer modes, I’m pretty bored with it. So the first multiplayer mode is standard team deathmatch. Nothing new here. Too bad physics don’t play a major part in it, you just have to use your nano suit’s abilities wisely. It’s either be stealthy, hit everyone from the back, be strong and throw stuff around (which usually glitches a lot with slow connections), run around like a Scout from Team Fortress 2 with the speed ability, or use a shield and engage into battle.
It’s neat and all, but gets old sooooo fast. After couple of hours of this, it’s just not really worth it. So in the second game mode, you have 2 teams that are stripped down of their abilities. And the teams have to earn points in order to get their abilities back. And choosing the abilities you need - depending the setting and playstyle of the enemy - is crucial for success. This actually played out in numerous awesome scenarios, but once you have all your abilities back, it’s just deathmatch again. Restart, repeat.
I really have to say — if it wasn’t for the multiplayer flop, Crysis would’ve gotten the crown this year. But now, it’s just a great tech demo for good things to come, and will be forgotten pretty fast. Sorry Crysis, you’re not on the list of candidates to best game of 2k7. Go home.
