AT&T brings you the new Pal Treo 650, also known as the king of Smart Phones. If you’re the business type person, this is what you’re going to want to add to your Christmas shopping list.

4.4 by 2.3 by 0.9 inches is the dimensions of this hardy piece of hardware. The overall design of the phone is efficient and sleek, sporting a gray case with black and white buttons; the Pal Treo 650 looks and is professional. The only problem with its design is that it looks exactly like its predecessor the Palm Treo 650. The only difference you can see between the two is the tag that has that extra 5 on it.

The screen on the newer version is the same size as the last (2.5 inches) but the noticeable difference is the much higher quality of the screen. The screen is capable of delivering up to 65,000 different shades and various backlighting features. The keyboard is your typical QWERTY setup and is easy to use for texting and small documents; you can even compose emails or work on HTML with ease.

Right now, there is a camera located on the back of the Palm Treo, but since this type of phone is used mainly for business persons or executives, there will be an option to have it removed soon since no one wants that top secret plan to get leaked. For those that do want the camera, the photos of the Palm Treo 650 were of excellent quality. Perfect for stealing documents if you’re a business man spying on the opposite company.

The Palm Treo comes with a variety of ways to connect other devices and is not limited to Bluetooth, wireless WAN, and infrared. The only thing that doesn’t come with it would be Wi-Fi, but hopefully with future models that will come instated with it as well, we’ll be waiting. If you can’t wait, you can always by the add-on for $129, but this is ridiculously priced since it should be standard with any portable device now. Even Nintendo DS’s come with it.

The various Palms through out the years have always used email, that being one of its major functions, but this one improves upon it and allows up to POP and IMAP accounts and makes it possible for you to hook up to your business’s Exchange Server 2003.

Phone call wise it works absolutely fine, you can change the volume settings with ease and depending where you were at, the calls came in just fine (this of course should always be good since the priority of a cell phone is to call people). The talk time of the model was decent at about 4 hours (a little bit low, but it also has to run a lot of other things at the same time) and standby was good at around 12 days. You’d better be a successful entrepreneur to afford this piece of equipment though as the price can get up to $549, so older models might be the better choice for a large discount.
