Gem Tower Defense Strategy

With the ability to build anywhere on the map except on one of the six waypoints there are virtually an unlimited number of strategy options.
In this screenshot I tried a simple maze that covers the 2nd and 4th waypoints. In this system the creeps travel through your entire maze 4 times. You could make the maze much larger but with this system I never run into trouble against the ground units so I don’t bother.
Key Towers:
Dark Emerald Tower:
This tower is absolutely vital to any strategy. Other towers with slow effects (ice/poison) become ineffective at higher levels as creeps get a higher and higher min speed. This tower fully upgraded stops monsters for 2 seconds in about 1/6 shots. I suggest building 4-5 Dark Emeralds.
Silver Knight Tower:
I strongly suggest building a centralized silver tower as your first. These aren’t very deadly late in the game but they are key in getting you to that stage.
Blood Stone Tower:
These are very deadly mid level towers if you do not upgrade them. After you get 4-5 Dark Emeralds set up I would upgrade these the Blood Stones with the Emeralds. This makes for an effective late round combo.
Hidden Towers:
Great Opal:
I’m pretty sure you can build ‘great’ gems for each color but the Opal has been the only one I’ve managed so far and probably the most valuable. The has a huge aura that gives all towers in it’s range +50% attack speed!
Note:
I would like to see a new tower defense game that gives you the option to turn off missiles. It seems that this causes quite a bit of lag in almost every TD.

It is a web based tower defense game developed in Flash. I don’t think there are any plans on expanding this to a console but you will have to ask the developers.

Egyptian Gold is vital too, in survival, EVERY EVERY EVERY round is weak to it after 40(?), it does criticals, -8 armor to targets, good damage, good range, and the ingredients are easy enough to get (P. Am., Flawless Am., Flawed Dia.).

Egyptian gold is vital. It seems that your armor modifier towers are able to stack. That is a big deal when you have a high tower density. You still need damage boosters and ice/stopper towers but don’t overlook armor modifiers.

I just made a malachite tower not entirely sure on the combo. btw what does the cooldown period mean?

The malachite tower is really weak at around level 25.

Cooldown is the space of time between shots. And a great tower is what you get when you combine two perfect gems of the same type when you’re placing gems.

Just some information for people who might not know, gem TD is not exactly a new game. It was originally a user created map for warcraft 3 and then copied here cos it was so popular. Not sure if the original creator made a flash version or if someone else copied it, but highly doubt it will appear in a console as a game.

i got the great emerald and its 250-250 dmg with deals 50 dmg poison every second and slows movement by 50% for 30 seconds

their is a suposed “uber crystal” too but you need 4 perfect gems of the same type in one placing(which is a one in a very very VERY lot) you can see it in you tube but i will find out the hard facts when i can because i have no idea how to do probibility.

the greatest combo i can think of is the unranium tower and a perfect emerald/blue, they combine to reduce the speed of the creep to 0.05, it basically keeps them stopped

Um…. this is not a web game, nor is it developed in flash… its a custom map for the warcraft III frozen throne expansion game.

I dont know the combo but a mystic black opal was the key to my success, it gives 40% damage to surrounding towers!

I got a great amethist, which managed to stop any flyers even getting to the second checkpoint. Really is a good tower.

Yes, You can make great towers of all the main gems, you do so by combineing two perfect gems.

I just calculated the probability of being able to create an uber stone when placing, assuming 10% of your gems are perfects. Assuming I didn’t screw up it’s 0.046%. Good luck!

lol when i play extreme i actually do not need any tower but the anti red crystal, build a malachite and then build a spirla around it, at lv 20 you can grade it to lv 3 and when you are not totally unlucky you will win the game easily…no way to lose^^
one bloodstone with a high level will beat everything too…spiral is the way to win 
im a gem td nerd and got min 10 top 50 entrys…at surv. gold is the best way

Is there any combos as of yet that use great gems? ie great opal and great saph and I dunno perfect diamond combine to make another gem? Just wondering. So far, best combo is Dark Emerald Black Opal Blood Stone and a Paraiba all within range of a perfect opal.

the great ruby is one of the best towers for managing EVERYTHING
it has a strong multishot, i’m not sure how much damage it does, but its around 200, and it has likea 300 cooldown.
thats the only great that i’ve gotten..
its even better if you can get a perfect opal in there.

There’s also a tower called uranium 235.
the effect is,
any monster that is within its range is slowed by 50%, and the monsters take 260dps

You can also make “God” quality gems. They take four “perfect” quality gems to make.

Lol-found uranium238 upgrades to uranium235. Slows 50% and burns 260.

i am going to try to dead with all noobs right now… first of all the uber stone is real it requires 4 perfects being created and combined also there is no god quality gem because i just said 4 perfects make the uberstone also if you do not know the combos if you play the game then it will show you on the bottom. aside from that if you have trouble with air after 40 you want to get the blood stone and try to get it near the middle and attempt to level it too for additional dmg. also those asking if it will ever go to the 360, no it wont because this is not flashes game they created it from seeing gem td on warcraft 3 which has it in 3D and even has slates, this is like a half version. Also those who have trouble mazing just look at youtube vids! also the uber stone does 6k just letin ya guys know.

Just to let you guys know… go to www.towerdefence.net/forum ,scroll down, click on rem tower defense and all the information you need is there now. They huave the rights to it and the website and are in the progress of making a second one while your there make a account and tell them i sent you .
BTW it does 600 damage and its a FLASH GAME its not gonna be on the god damn 360,wii,or, ps3
btw all you people who think you can own survial i challenge you to beat level 140 (its impossible since youm cant buy lifes fast enough)

If you get four of one type of gem can you combine it up three levels? like, if i draw 4 chipped opals, can i make a flawless opal? What would 4 perfects make?

The Dark Emerald Tower has a %12.5 chance to stun for 1.5 seconds PER attack. if you are going to go that route, i recommend lots of opals around each DE. if you want a full list of the gems and combos, http://www.gemtowerdefense.com/

hint: Don’t even THINK about getting an UBER stone. I’ve tried 300+ times I can only get 4 perfect gems with different colors in a placing.

On lvl 80, all I can do is use a bunch of dark emerald to stun the enemies. It- needs awhile to get me to another stage.
