This is a trailer for the new EA game, Skate.

I’ve mentioned Skate in one of my earlier blogs Skating Game Ideas.
Skate has some really cool features that I’d like to discuss.

Flick-it Controls
With Flick-it controls you are actually able to control the pop of your board. To try an explain more, you use the right analog stick to control your feet, no more button pressing tricks. Say flicking down on the analog stick then angling the stick back up at a 45 degree angle and your character will do a kickflip or heelflip depending on which way you bring it back up. Another trick would be the Pop Shuvit, you pull down and slide the stick back up along the wall of the analog stick’s control area.

San Vanelona
A fictional city that is a mixture of San Francisco, Barcelona, and Vancouver, making this skatopia. It is said that the size of San Vanelona is so large that it would take you at least ten minutes to get across the entire city without bailing or slowing down. This city is split into four main areas, the suburbs, the res, oldtown, and downtown. Skating through this mecca of the skate world will treat you to thousands of excellent skate areas hidden and just waiting to be torn up. I can imagine people playing Skate a few years after it comes out and still only have found a small portion of the city.

skate.Reel
skate.Reel is an excellent feature that will make fans of skate games rejoice. You can now film your stunts. What you do is you set up where you want to start, then go and do you trick where you want, then you are able to edit your new video. Editing includes slowing down, speeding up, lighting, position, so many precision things that professional skate videos have, and some that they don’t. Imagine, a simple trick can be turned into a masterpeice. I seen a demo and it consisted of a kickflip, noseslide, down a stair set, the way that it was skate.Reel’ed made this trick that can be done in a split second happen over several and in a way that it just looks great. Not only can you make videos, but you can save them, and even send them over the net for other people to see, I can’t wait to see some of the interesting things people find and do.
