Genre: MMORPG
Platform: Windows

The Guild Wars games for the PC are some of the most popular out there. They allow you to play a fantasy RPG online with no subscription fees! Millions of copies have been sold! It all started with Guild Wars: Prophecies. It was then followed by Guild Wars: Factions. Now, the next campaign in the Guild Wars saga has been released, Guild Wars: Nightfall. It features many changes, additions, and improvements from previous versions.

The story starts in the desert-like land of Elona. You are a new recruit in the Order of the Sunspear. The Sunspear are the protectors of Elona. A crazed and corrupt ruler is trying to summon the power of an outcast God. Doing so would bring eternal darkness over Elona. It is your mission to stop this catastrophe!

guild-wars-2.jpgThe first new addition is the introduction of 2 new professions, the Dervish and the Paragon. The Dervish is a holy warrior that wields a scythe. The Dervish is great for up close combat as they are capable of taking out multiple opponents at once. The Paragon are the guardian angels of the Elonian people. Paragons throw spears and are best for supportive combat as they are capable of casting echoes, shouts, and chants.

There are many other new additions. First, Guild Wars: Nightfall has 20 missions and hundreds of quests. There are also over 300 new skills, several new guild halls, new and dangerous enemies, and a sandworm that provides transport by carrying you in its mouth!

When playing Guild Wars: Nightfall, you have the option of traveling alone or with the henchmen that were apparent in the last games. There is another option available to you as well, however. You can recruit a handful of heroes. These heroes all have their own personal background story that is actually intertwined with the story of Guild Wars: Nightfall! This was not the case in the other games! Only 3 heroes can travel with you at once, however. At times, some will be available to you while others will not. Try to recruit them all!

guild-wars-3.jpgWith regards to your heroes, you can fully customize their weapons, skills, attribute points, and more. This was not available in the previous games. The AI of both the henchman and the heroes has been drastically improved. They follow orders better, manage their energy better, and have a better knowledge of using their skills!

There are quite a few welcomed changes. First, there are now weapon inscriptions and armor insignias. These are swappable enhancements that you add to your equipment. Second, there are new save and load templates for your skill bar set ups, professions, and attributes. There is also a new skill and attribute panel. Another great change has been made to the damage interface. There are now large animations that show you the damage, experience or healing you have attained. It also shows you information of a skill that an opponent has used against you. Lastly, you can now change your secondary profession at a town or an outpost. These are just a handful of the changes. There are many more!

guild-wars-4.jpgOne thing that hasn’t changed is that you still don’t have to pay a subscription fee to play online! You can play with your friends from around the world, or alone with your henchman and heroes in your party. If you don’t have Guild Wars: Prophecies or Guild Wars: Factions, you can still play Guild Wars: Nightfall. However, if you do have either of the other games, you can import your characters from one game to the next!

You can still expect gorgeous graphics and cut scenes. All of the environments and character models are full of detail. The voice acting is also excellent.

Guild Wars: Nightfall is available for your PC. It has an ESRB rating of T for teen. This is because it features use of alcohol and violence.
