Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis - another “tactics” game

Title: Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
Platform: Game Boy Advance
Genre: Strategy/RPG or “Tactics”

Well I’ve been playing this game for about a week now and I find it’s actually quite good. There are a few problems I find with it though.

I find that it is extremely similar to almost every Strategy/RPG for the GBA (yes I’m lookin’ at you Final Fantasy Tactics Advance). In fact in combat I only see a few differences in the battle mechanics, like only being able to carry 4 items instead of the usual 5.

The game is also quite easy, blowing through battles is a breeze considering most of the story missions only require you to kill the boss and he is usually only slightly more powerful than the rest of the warriors.

Recruiting new characters is also way to easy and somewhat pointless. I mean why in the hell do you have a Beastmaster or Dragontamer when anyone else in the party can “Persuade” the monster or soldier to just join your party.

And of course character classes, all the same expected classes are found here; soldier, ninja, archer, wizard, ect. Once again just all the same stuff.

Putting all of the similarities behind Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis has a pretty good storyline, which by the Tactics Ogre series, all depends on your decisions. The storyline is the only thing affected by your decisions, but special characters as well. Some characters can be brought to your team by saying the right phrases to them between storyline battles.
